Hopkinsville Police Offer Safe Disposal for Prescription Drugs
The National Association of Drug Diversion Investigators (NADDI) has launched a program designed to significantly reduce the prescription drugs in American homes that are either no longer needed or outdated. These same drugs unfortunately have become the target of theft and misuse, oftentimes by people who have access to the residence. America’s 12 to 17 year olds have made prescription drugs the number one substance of abuse for their age group, and much of that supply is unwittingly coming from the medicine cabinets of their parents, grandparents, and friends. More and more adults recognize the need to remove these substances from the home and legally and safely turn them over to law enforcement. The Hopkinsville Police Department now has an Rx Drug Drop Box located inside the lobby of the police department located at 112 West 1st Street and encourages anyone who has outdated or no longer needed prescriptions to bring them to the police department for proper disposal Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:00pm. The Rx Drug Drop Box was paid for by the National Association of Drug Diversion Investigators through a grant program for law enforcement agencies.
