Public Works Department Employee Recognition at November 15th City Council Meeting
Jeff Lancaster has been with the Public Works Department for more
than 20 years. Jeff lives in Hopkinsville and has 2
children. This past June, Jeff participated in the backhoe
competition at the Kentucky APWA Southern Branch equipment roadeo and
qualified to represent the APWA Southern Branch at the Kentucky State
competition. On October 18th, Jeff, under the watchful eye of
Terry Rudd, Street Division Superintendent, finished runner-up in the
statewide backhoe competition. Congratulations Jeff for your
success and faithfully representing the City of Hopkinsville Public
Works Department.
On November 9th, the 2011 Roads Scholar and Road Master Graduation
ceremony, sponsored by the University of Kentucky Transportation
Center, was held at Rough River Dam State Resort Park. The
Roads Scholar training program is designed to provide local and state
government employees with basic information on maintaining local
streets and roads. The Road Master training program is an
additional level of training for Roads Scholars that requires seven
more days of training courses. Greg Brant, James Jordan, Kerri
Stewart and James Simpson, representing the City of Hopkinsville Public
Works Department, received their certificates for successfully
completing the training programs.
Greg Brant, who has been with the Public Works Department for a little more than a year, received recognition as both a Roads Scholar and Road Master. Greg lives in Cadiz, is married and has 1 son.
James Jordan has been with the Public Works Department for almost 9 years and received recognition as a Road Master. James graduated from the Roads Scholar training program in 2007. He is a resident of Hopkinsville, is married and has 4 children and 7 grandchildren.
Kerri Stewart, who has been with the Public Works Department for more than 4 years, received her recognition as both a Roads Scholar and Road Master. Kerri lives in Cerulean, is married and has 2 real rodeo daughters.
James Simpson has been with the Public Works Department for more than 11 years and is a second generation City of Hopkinsville Public Works Employee. His father worked in the Street Division for more than 10 years. James received recognition as a Road Master having graduated from the Roads Scholar training program in 2007. James lives in Christian County, is married and has 1 daughter and 1 son.
With these honors, every employee of the City of Hopkinsville Public Works Department Street Division is now considered to be a Roads Scholar and Road Master.
