Councilman Wesley Grimes worked for A&P Grocery and retired after 33 years of service. He then owned and operated Grimes Butcher Shop for 19 years. Councilman Grimes has served on City Council since 2003 and currently holds positions on the Hopkinsville Cable Television Oversight Authority and the Pennyrile Resource, Conservation and Development Council.
Councilman Grimes is a two-time past president of the Eagles Club. Other former board appointments include terms with the Christian County Senior Citizens Center Board, Westwood Senior Homes Board, Lions Club, Civitan, Elks Club, Inner-City Advisory Committee, Pennyrile Solid Waste Management Authority Board, Hopkinsville Electric System Board, the Hopkinsville Water Environment Authority Board, Tax Increment Finance Development Authority, Emergency Operations Center Board, Hopkinsville Surface and Stormwater Utility Board, Retired Senior Volunteers Program Board, Hopkinsville/Christian County Library Board, Christian County Ambulance Board, Public Works Committee, Public Safety Committee, and Public Services Committee as Chairman.
Councilman Grimes is the proud father of two wonderful children, five grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren – ten in March of 2017. He was married to the late Linda Parker Grimes for 63 years.
