The Summer in the City Internship Program offers current high school junior and seniors an opportunity to learn about the city while gaining important job skills that can be applied to future careers. 2018 will mark our 12th class of interns. Since 2007, the city has hosted 52 participants through the program.
Again, this year the city will select up to 6 interns, 2 to work from Hopkinsville Fire Department and 4 from the Administration Department at City Hall from June 4 until June 21. Internship office hours are typically 8am until 12pm.
Unlike many youth-orientated internships, the Summer in the City Internship Program seeks to offer interns substantive assignments throughout the length of the program. As a valued team member, you will have the opportunity to perform assignments like regular city staff as well as learn valuable lessons about the workforce. As part of the program, interns will also complete individual or group projects of their choosing.
