Citizen's Police Academy

The Hopkinsville Police Department will be conducting its 14th Annual Citizen’s Police Academy in the fall of 2014if there is enough interest among the community. There will be only room for 20 students and times/dates will be determined at a later date. Applications are already being accepted.  If interested, you can download an application or pick up one at the Police Department. All applications will need to be turned in to the Hopkinsville Police Department.

The seven week long course highlights the activities of the department and gives the public a chance to see what the department does on a daily basis. The classes are taught by members of the department, which gives the class members a chance to meet officers in a positive environment. Topics covered include patrol, investigations, K-9 demonstrations, and firearms, just to name a few. Each class participant may also attend a Saturday live fire exercise at the department’s firearms range. The class culminates with a graduation ceremony and meal, with certificates awarded to all that complete the course.

For additional information or questions regarding the program, contact Officer John Bracey at (270) 887-8534 or (270) 890-1500.
