Museum Grand Reopening Set for February 27th
The Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County is excited to host the Grand Re-opening of the Pennyroyal Area Museum on Thursday, February 27, 2020. We will host a ribbon cutting with the Christian County Chamber of Commerce at 3pm with comments and tours of the building to follow until 6pm. Light refreshments will be served, and Vansauwa’s Tacos & Vegan Eats will be on site. The Grand Re-opening is free and open to the public. Please join us as we re-dedicate our community’s first museum.
With up to $1 million provided by a special transient room tax put in place by Christian County Fiscal Court, the Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County has renovated the old Post Office, the home of the Pennyroyal Area Museum since 1976. Additional funding was raised through corporate sponsorships and individual donations. Special thanks to our corporate sponsors: Planters Bank, City of Hopkinsville, Hopkinsville Water Environment Authority, and United Southern Bank. A complete list of individual donors is attached.
The Pennyroyal Area Museum will resume regular operating hours on Friday, February 28. The museum will be open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10am until 4pm. Admission rates are $5 for adults and $3 for children. Children 3 and under, active duty military, and museum members visit for free. The Woody Winfree Fire-Transportation Museum will re-open on Tuesday, March 3.
Thank you again for your support of our efforts to create an engaging learning environment and to encourage conversations about our past. We hope you will join us as we re-introduce the Pennyroyal Area Museum to the community.
