Friday, August 28, 2020, Movies In the Park  FREE DRIVE-IN (ONLY) Meaning families can remain in/on/next to their vehicle during the movie.  There will be socially-distanced, marked spots in the grass for sitting.   Movie - Sonic The Hedgehog at Ruff Park, The movie will start at 8:00 p.m. Loud speakers AND radio tuners will be available for audio. Restrooms will be available for use, but there is no congregating or group solicitation allowed.  Continue to follow Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation on Facebook for updates pertaining to on-site food vendors.  Enjoy a great family night drive in!

Pickle Ball, Thomas Street Center, 2600 Thomas Street

Pickleball at the Hopkinsville Recreation Department will be returning to Thomas Street Center on June 29, 2020. We will be offering pickle ball on Mondays (9:00am -11:00am, 5:30pm -8:30 pm) and Wednesdays (1:00pm-3:00pm). Due to the restrictions in place because of the pandemic, at this time we will be limited to gatherings of 50 or less.

Important Information: (please read below)

1.       limited to gatherings of 50 or less.

2.       masks recommended for building guests when entering the building.

3.       check-in and temperature checks when entering indoor facilities

5.       hand sanitizers available at entrances

6.       there is signage with rules and health/sanitary reminders

7.       there will be no seating available for spectators during specified times.

8.       there will be no access to public water fountains.

9.       no equipment will be available for check-out, must bring own equipment.

10.     restrooms will be open.


2nd Annual Hoptown Half Marathon & 5K, Downtown Hopkinsville 

The 2nd Annual Hoptown Half Marathon & 5Kis a joint road race through Hopkinsville, KY, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 19, 2020. The course winds through downtown Hoptown, residential areas, through beautiful Christian County countryside and returns to finish downtown on our popular new Greenway/Rail Trail.

Half marathon and 5K runner packages include a beautiful medal and comfortable long sleeve moisture-wicking performance shirt. Come experience the beauty and charm of west Kentucky scenery and hospitality in Hopkinsville - or Hoptown as we call it - at the Hoptown Half Marathon & 5K, presented by Planters Bank and Jennie Stuart Health.

Over 200 runners have already signed up for this year’s version of the half marathon (13.1 miles)5K (3.1 miles) and “Wally’s Walkers” (1 mile) in Hoptown, Sign Up by visiting official race website HoptownHalf.com.  The race will be capped at 1,000 participants.

Public health safety measures are in place for the race, approved by the Christian Co. Health Department. 

Like last year, the Hoptown Half & 5K Weekend festivities will kick off with a pre-race expo, open to the general public, at Planters Bank-Jennie Stuart Health Sportsplex Hopkinsville. Scheduled for Friday, Sept. 18, the Expo will give participants the opportunity to pick up race packets and race shirts in advance.

Race starting line is at 1001 S. Main Street in downtown Hopkinsville.  Race day registration and packet pickup is at the nearby Christian County Justice Center, 100 Justice Way, Hopkinsville, KY  42240.

Challenge House is the non-profit organization benefitting from proceeds for this year’s race.
