Hopkinsville Officials Provide Additional Safety Guidance for Parking Lot Church Gatherings
Hopkinsville public safety and other officials remind the public that taking consistent, robust precautions throughout our area continues to be critical in the fight against the spread of the coronavirus. However, in keeping with guidance provided by Governor Andy Beshear at Tuesday afternoon's press conference, parking lot church services are permissible ONLY IF attendees:
1. Have only individuals from a single household in each vehicle (i.e., no carpooling, use of church buses, etc.);
2. Park their vehicles more than 6 feet, as windows may be rolled down and the weather could be breezy;
3. Remain in their vehicles during the entire service; and
4. Do not pass anything between vehicles (e.g., communion, offering, plates, notes, etc.).
Additionally, those attending services at neighborhood churches within walking distance of their homes are reminded that mandatory social distancing protocols still apply. This means anyone in attendance should remain at least six feet away from others at all times. Also note that lawn chairs and/or perimeter seating is not permitted.
Organizers of church gatherings where attendees fail to adhere to these guidelines are responsible for enforcing local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations. Failure to do so may result in your gathering being halted immediately with all in attendance required to leave and return home - even before the service concludes.
