2019 National Police Week is May 12th-18th
This week is National Police Week. It was established in 1962 when President John F. Kennedy assented with Congress and signed a proclamation designating May 15th of each year as Peace Officers Memorial Day. Over the years following, the week in which Peace Officers Memorial Day falls has become known as Police Week, and events dedicated to the memory of those who served and died began to take place during that time. If you would like to show your support for law enforcement during this week, please make plans to attend the Annual Police Memorial sponsored by Fraternal Order of Police, Hopkinsville Lodge #12 to be held Thursday May 16, 2019, at 4:30 pm at Police Memorial Park on West 1st Street next to the Police Department.
