Hopkinsville Mayor Dan Kemp announced the promotion of Tim Cato as the city’s new Budget Officer.  Cato officially took on the role beginning yesterday.

Over the last week, a four-member Budget Officer Selection Panel interviewed three finalists selected out of a pool of 15 applicants for the job.  Mayor Kemp stated, “We had a strong pool of qualified candidates.  Tim, though, impressed everyone on the panel by his experience and commitment to professional growth with the city.  Also his familiarity with our budget and other finance processes will certainly be of great benefit to us.”

Chief Financial Officer and Selection Panel Member Robert Martin echoed those sentiments adding, “During his time with the city, Tim’s hard work, fiscal know-how, and keen eye for detail have been invaluable.  These skills coupled with his overall desire to serve the citizens of Hopkinsville will be vital as he assumes this position.”

Cato graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in economics and brings over 7.5 years of related experience to the position.  Before joining the City of Hopkinsville last year, he served as a Universal Banker with US Bank.
