Hopkinsville Mayor Dan Kemp announced today that the city will soon host four students selected to be 2014 Summer in the City Interns.
- Ciara Booker, Christian County High School
- Montreale Jones, AGIFT Homeschool
- MacKenzie Russell, Hopkinsville High School
- Elizabeth Settle, Christian County High School
For three weeks beginning June 9, interns will undertake various projects, develop computer and workplace skills, network, and learn how municipal government works while exploring possible career paths. Upon successful completion of the program, they earn a $500 stipend and letter of recommendation.
Mayor Kemp remarked, “I am just thrilled to welcome our eighth class of students to the summer internship program. Once again, we found ourselves quite impressed with the qualifications of this year’s applicants and look forward to another productive session.”
The Summer in the City Internship Program is an initiative Mayor Kemp launched in 2007 during his first year in office. During his tenure, 31 Christian County youth have served as city interns, receiving valuable workplace readiness and other skills along with the opportunity to see different facets of municipal government at work.
