Mayor Carter Hendricks has pegged Tab Brockman of Murray, Kentucky to lead parks and recreation services in Hopkinsville. Brockman will join Team Hopkinsville on September 8th.

Tab Brockman“We look forward to welcoming Tab aboard,” said Hendricks.  “We are really excited to have identified a candidate with the right balance of experience, skills, and innovation necessary to complement our existing recreation offerings as well as support efforts to enhance them through a variety of new initiatives like the 2017 solar eclipse.”

A national search produced a talented pool of very qualified candidates for the position.  Mr. Brockman, though, impressed everyone on the interview panel who agreed his strengths in the areas of fundraising, marketing, team building, and vision casting made him an ideal choice.

“Hopkinsville has a tremendous parks system with so many great offerings for patrons of all ages,” Mr. Brockman said.  “The community leaders totally understand the value of good parks and what they bring to the overall quality of life for Hopkinsville, Christian County and the region.”

He added, “My wife and I are grateful and excited to reconnect with old Hoptown friends and make new ones in the city and county.  And, I’m looking forward to working with the veteran park staff in place who know how to get things done.“

Brockman’s credentials include a Bachelor of Science degree from Murray State University and over 30 years of marketing and public relations experience with an emphasis on parks, sports, and event management.  His last five years have been spent serving as director of the Murray-Calloway County Parks Department.  Through his collaborative efforts there, the Kentucky Recreation and Parks Society recognized the division with the 2013 Outstanding Parks Department Award.

A Louisville native, Tab and Beth, his wife of thirty-two years, have two adult sons.  City officials look forward to scheduling a public reception in his honor soon.
