In an effort to accommodate anticipated large crowds on Saturday afternoon, this weekend’s Summer Salute festival will offer free satellite parking and shuttle service, officials announced today.
Satellite parking with-to-and-from shuttle service will be available at Ruff Park and at the main parking lot of Hopkinsville Community College from 4:00-10:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Pennyrile Allied Community Services Transportation Division is providing four free shuttles to deliver riders to the corner of North Main and Fourth Streets, on the north end of the festival. Riders can take the shuttles back to the satellite lots after the free Diamond Rio concert that begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Justice Center parking lot. Pick-up and drop points will be clearly marked with signs.
“The PACS Transportation Division has graciously offered to provide the shuttle service for Summer Salute for Saturday when we are anticipating the biggest crowds as we build up to the Diamond Rio concert,” said Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation Superintendent, Tab Brockman. “This is a wonderful community service from PACS. We know downtown parking will be at a premium and PACS helping out with free shuttles provides another super example of our community working together.”

It was also announced today that Nashville singer/songwriter Alex Hall will be the opener for Diamond Rio on Saturday night. The Georgia native will greet the crowd with music from his debut self-titled EP project. Hall has been performing professionally since he turned 15 and his high energy mix of pop and country will be a perfect act to set the stage for six-time Vocal Group of the Year, Diamond Rio.
