Congratulations to Hopkinsville Transit’s latest Riders of the Month: Montie Haddock (November 2016) and Loretta Ortt (December 2016).  What a great way to make this time of year a little more special for these wonderful riders!

WHY I RIDE?

Ms. Montie
Riding Hopkinsville Transit allows me not to be confined to my home any longer. Doctors flagged my driver’s license 4 years ago due to a spinal cord injury. It's hard for anyone to understand what it feels like being able to get up and go whenever you want to, after having all that taken from you. Hopkinsville Transit allows me to go to my doctor appointments, shopping, basically anywhere I need or want to go. To me Hopkinsville Transit is a God sent blessing, as well as with each driver. Thank you Hopkinsville Transit for giving me mobility back to my life. Why do I ride? Simple: it gives me back a part of my life that was taken from me.

Ms. Loretta
I’m disabled and don't drive so it's very accessible.  Two buses come almost within a block of my house.  I went to new Walmart today and really like it because it's a lot closer.  I've been riding to the grocery store and doctor since about one month after Hopkinsville Transit started running.  It helps out a lot when you're on fixed income because [other rides are] really high and unreliable, sometimes taking a couple of hours to come.

Congratulations to Hopkinsville Transit’s first Riders of the Month: Donna Hutton (August 2016), Alaetra Burrus (September 2016) & Robin Porter (October 2016).  Each will win free passes to make their trips just a little sweeter!

WHY I RIDE?

Ms. Donna
I ride Hoptown Transit to get to places that are [too] far for me to walk to…as I do not have a vehicle. By there being different routes I'm able to get to Walmart, Walgreen's, and Baptist Health for doctor appointments as well. I have been in Hoptown for a year now. Paying a $1 to ride anywhere on the routes is very good. The city and state I come from the bus fare was $3 and you had to get transfers. The monthly bus pass was $70. So I really enjoy this transit.

Ms. Alaetra
I ride the bus back and forth everyday to work and to experience the different things that we have here in Hopkinsville…Hopkinsville Transit is a good transportation system.

Ms. Robin
I'm living by myself, and I had a stroke, and can't drive anymore. I love that I can use [the service] for the hospital and all the stores whenever I need them. Thank you so much for doing this!! All of the drivers ROCK!! They always have a kind smile!!
