2016 HES Christmas Parade Announces County Judge Executive Steve Tribble as Grand Marshal

The 2016 Christmas Parade, presented by Hopkinsville Electric System, is set for Saturday, December 10, 5:15 pm (NEW DATE and TIME).  The nighttime parade is part of the Hopkinsville Holiday Celebration and will follow its usual route from Glass Avenue, South on Main Street to Sixteenth Street.  The 2016 theme is “All Aboard for Christmas.” This parade is coordinated by the Division of Parks and Recreation and WHVO/WKDZ Radio Station.

All competing floats will be judged in 4 different areas.  One thousand dollars ($1,000.00) will be awarded for HES Grand Champion (best lighting), seven hundred fifty dollars ($750.00) for 2nd  place, five hundred dollars ($500.00) for 3rd  place and five hundred dollars ($500.00) for HES/WHV0/WKDZ People’s Choice Award.  
 
All parade entries are to donate a new, unwrapped toy when they submit their entry fee and form.  All toys received will be given to the Hopkinsville Jaycees to use at their Annual Underprivileged Children’s Christmas Party.
   
Floats will be judged in the following areas:
 
1.  Design, engineering and special effects (includes lighting)
2.  Color and artistic value
3.  Representing the theme
4.  Overall effect which includes above 3 areas
 
Any group, club, church, school, business, individual, etc. wishing to enter should drop by Parks and Recreation, 2600 Thomas Street, Monday – Friday, 7:30 am – 4:00 pm to pick-up necessary forms and rules.  Entry deadline is November 23.  For more information, please call 270-887-4290.
