The Christian County Military Affairs Committee is proud to announce that Christian County has been announced a recipient of the 2017 Great American Defense Community Award by the Association of Defense Communities. This award program was designed by the Association of Defense Communities in conjunction with the House and Senate Defense Communities Caucuses to recognize and celebrate communities whose exceptional commitment to improve the lives of service members, veterans and their families serves as a model for all communities.

Christian County was one of eight communities chosen for this prestigious award based on their application which highlighted the Christian County School District Student 2 Student Program, the Military Spouse Leadership Program, and the Christian County Military Affairs Committee.

"As a military spouse myself and a member of this community, I am so proud of Christian County and the leadership that has led us to deserving this award" said Katie Lopez, Director of Military Affairs at the Christian County Chamber of Commerce. "It is an honor to be recognized among our peers as a model community that supports military families and Fort Campbell".

Christian County is the only community in Kentucky and Tennessee to be recognized by the Association of Defense Communities for their initiatives to support military families. Communities selected for this award are recognized nationally for their efforts and become part of a growing collection of best practices that are defining the gold standard for all to follow.
