Projects Underway

Indoor Sportsplex

May 2017: Project design underway.
April 28, 2017: Contract signed with design firm Sherman Carter Barnhart Architects, firm unanimously recommended by selection committee.
April 13, 2017: Top 2 firms interviewed.
March 21, 2017: 8 RFPs received.
February 28, 2017: Sportsplex Request for Proposals (RFP) issued.
February 2017: City Council approved $4,608,000 for project.

Greenway Expansion

June 2017: Selection of design firm is in progress.
May 25, 2017: State transportation cabinet awarded project $714,000 in CY2016 Transportation Alternatives Program reimbursement program funds.
April 2017: Negotiated contract details with Phase I design firm Lose & Associates.
February 2017: City Council approved $2,200,000 for project.

Sidewalk Improvement Plan

June 2017: Durrett Avenue and College Street sidewalks completed.  Projects on Glass Avenue and Broad Street are in progress.
May 2017: Public Works evaluated and prioritized 50 total projects.
April 2017: Contracts signed with construction firms for new sidewalk construction. 
February 2017: City Council approved $1,267,764 for project.

2nd Street Park

June 2017: Conceptual park rendering supported by East Side Neighborhood.  Construction documents are being prepared.
April 2017: Second park rendering developed based on East Side Neighborhood feedback.
March 7, 2017: Draft rendering shared with East Side Neighborhood Association for feedback.
February 2017: Draft park rendering developed.

February 2017: City Council approved an additional $250,000 for project.
November 2015: City Council approved using $318,000 from Section 108 Loan toward project.

Joe Mumford Park

June 2017: Continue to research property acquisition.
February 2017: City Council approved an additional $650,000 for project.
November 2015: City Council approved using $100,000 from Section 108 Loan toward project.

Ag Expo

May 2017: Markin Consulting presented draft market demand assessment study for proposed Western Kentucky Ag Expo Center intended to serve Christian, Trigg and Todd counties.  Click here for a copy of the study.
February 2017: City Council approved $1,000,000 toward project.
February 2, 2017: Markin Consulting hosted public community forum as part of continued feasibility/market study work.

Conference Center Expansion

April 2017: Design development is complete.
February 2017: City Council approved $1,000,000 toward project.

Alhambra Theater

June 2017: Marquee replacement is underway.
April 11, 2017: County accepted Trio Signs bid for marquee replacement.

Pennyroyal Area Museum

April 2017: Project is in design phase.

Project Financing

June 2017: The next round of tax credit applications are due late June 2017 with funded projects announced in October 2017.
