Youth Award

An Invitation to Apply for the All-America City Youth Award

A Program of the National Civic League

To be presented at the 2020 AAC Awards Event

Nominate a youth leader for the 2020 All-America City Youth Award. The winner will receive national recognition through the National Civic League All-America City Awards website and social media. This award was created in memory of NCL’s former President John Parr who highly valued youth leadership.


Youth, ages 14 to 25, from 2020 All-America City Finalist communities are invited to submit letters of interest or be nominated. Each community may only nominate one youth.

Application Process:

To indicate your interest, submit a one-page letter or letter(s) of support to the city by July 17 describing how you:  The letter should not to exceed one page, single-spaced, but should describe how the nominated youth leader (ages 14-25) meets the following criteria. Youth may nominate themselves or they can be nominated by a community member. The letter must be submitted to National Civic League by July 31, 2020. The youth leader must be part of a finalist delegation attending the 2020 All-America City Awards.


  1. Exemplifies the All-America City criteria of impact, inclusiveness, innovation, collaboration and civic engagement.
  2. Has had an impact on the wider community (i.e. What difference did they make?).
  3. Inspired others to get involved, to undertake comparable efforts.
  4. Demonstrates the insight and courage to collaborate across lines that usually divide people.

Selection of the Winner:

Nominees will be interviewed by two national experts during the All-America City Awards. The winner(s) will be announced Wednesday night, August 19, 2020, at the virtual All-America City Awards event.
