Teen Nites at Tie Breaker Aquatic Center This Summer

The popular Teen Nite series at Tie Breaker Aquatic Center returns for 2019 with the move to weeknights, starting this evening.  Tonight’s first Teen Night of the summer is for students in 8th-10th grade.  This Thursday night (June 13) a separate night for high school Juniors and Seniors is slated.  The second round of Teen Nite events are July 23 (8th-10th graders) and July 25 (Juniors and Seniors).

Teen Night hours are 7:30-10:00 pm with a $5.00 admission charge for the evening.  Teens must show proof of age with a valid driver’s license, Department of Motor Vehicle ID (available for non-drivers for $4.00), or a school ID.  A parent or guardian can also sign in the student at the park admission gate.

Music, water and concessions will be the highlights, along with the fact that Tie Breaker transforms into a teen-only facility.  Adults will not be allowed in the park, however, appropriate supervision will be provided by the Hopkinsville Police Department and regular water park staff.

“We moved the teen nights off of Friday nights as a result of feedback from the kids,” according the Tab Brockman, Parks and Recreation Superintendent.  “We asked for student feedback and they said too many other things compete with Friday events so we made the move.  The city really appreciates the YMCA staff at Tie Breaker for working with us on this after-hours project to provide more opportunities for youth events.”

Special rules continue in effect again for Teen Nites to create an environment teenagers will still enjoy.

The age/ID requirement mandates proof of age between 14-18 years old, or proof of high school enrollment between 9th-12th grades.  Parents/guardians can also sign students in if they do not have a valid school ID.  No adults will be allowed into the park, but they may remain in the Tie Breaker parking lot.  Absolutely no re-admission once a patron has left the park, for any reason.  Supervision will be provided by Hopkinsville Police Department.  A DJ will be on hand and the concession stand will be open for food and drink purchases during the special event.  Tie Breaker season pass will be honored for admission to Teen Nite if it is in the student’s name.
