Visit the Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County!
Have you visited the Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County lately? If not – we have new exhibits that we want you to check out!
The Great War: We join the world in commemorating the centennial anniversary of the end of World War I with this exhibit that features uniforms, photographs, and other memorabilia from Christian County men who served in the conflict.
Remembering the Adath Israel Temple: Hopkinsville’s Jewish heritage is honored in this exhibit that features items from the synagogue that formerly stood on 6th Street.
Notable Locals: Hopkinsville and Christian County have always been proud of their people. This exhibit features local folks who have made a significant contribution to our community. Currently, we tell the stories of three local coaches and a collector, a writer, and a performer. These individuals are just the beginning of an ongoing effort to highlight the stories of our favorite locals.
What’s In A Name: Ever wonder where the name Hopkinsville or Christian County came from? This exhibit explains the root of some of our most well-known names.
LaFayette Post Office & our Explore Zone: The old LaFayette Post Office has been transformed into an interactive exhibit for kids and adults alike. Go behind the counter to sort mail, design your own stamp, and complete a visual scavenger hunt of stamps from all over the world. Our new Discovery Drawers offer the chance to learn about geology, old-time schools, foodways, and more. Dress up like a pioneer, a soldier, a fireman, or a postal worker for a fun photo opportunity. Additional hands-on activities are incorporated throughout the museum.
