Hoptown-Christian County WINS Project Wraps up with 2nd Street Park Ribbon Cutting
Mayor Carter Hendricks encourages the public to celebrate the official ribbon cutting for 2nd Street Park. The ceremony will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 30 at the park located next to 745 East Second Street.
Mayor Hendricks noted, “We are excited to open this new park on Hopkinsville’s East Side. We know that parks and green spaces are vital in helping residents enjoy a better quality of life, increase property values, and improve public safety. We look forward to kids, families, and residents of all ages enjoying this newest addition to the neighborhood. It’s our hope that 2nd Street Park fosters a greater sense of pride in our city and allows residents to enjoy a happier, healthier life in Hopkinsville.”
Authorized by Hopkinsville City Council as part of the Hoptown-Christian County WINS slate of projects in collaboration with Inner City Residential Enterprise Zone (ICREZ), CDBG and Section 108 Loan funding, the $568,000 recreational development features a playground, basketball court, pavilion, restroom facilities, parking, and lawn areas for gatherings. The adjacent community center continues to be utilized for private rentals.
