For three weeks, interns have undertaken various projects, developed computer and workplace skills, networked, and learned how municipal government works while exploring possible career paths. Upon successful completion of the program later this week, they will earn a $500 check and letter of recommendation.
Mayor Hendricks remarked, “We’ve thoroughly enjoyed hosting this year’s Summer in the City interns. We hope they’ve had a wonderful experience and leave with a new understanding of city government and the workplace.”
The Summer in the City Program was launched in 2007 and offers students internship opportunities in one of three city departments: Administration, Fire, and Police. Since its commencement, 58 other Christian County youth have served as city interns, receiving valuable workplace readiness and other skills while seeing various facets of municipal government at work.
