Friends of the Library Raise Over $8000 for the Public Library

The Friends of the Library (FOL) raised over $8000 for the Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library.  The HCCPL Friends of the Library had its last in-
person meeting in February of 2020. Because of COVID, it could not hold meetings, host programs, or sponsor events.  Instead, the group focused on increasing membership and fund-raising.

Today, the (FOL) is proud to report that they increased their membership to almost 100 members and raised $8,010 to be donated to the library for various events, services, and improvements that the library needs.  The great success of this fund-raising effort shows how much our community appreciates having a library that serves our children and families so well.

Margaret McDonald, FOL Chairperson, stated, “Executive Director, DeeAnna Sova, and her outstanding staff have worked hard to make that happen.  The Friends organization is holding its first board meeting since the COVID outbreak on April 27, when it will vote on several proposed ways to assist the library in continuing its excellent service to our community.”

DeeAnna Sova, Executive Director, shared, “The Friends of the Library have worked hard this year on funding for our library.  Their ability to raise over $8,000 from businesses and individuals in our community not only shows the Friend’s dedication to the library, but it shows the importance and value that the residents of Christian County place on our public library.  What this group has accomplished during a time of uncertainty is very inspiring for our library and our community”
