Expanded African American History Exhibit & Seasonal Exhibits at the Pennyroyal Area Museum

In honor of Black History Month, the Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County announces an expanded African American History exhibit at the Pennyroyal Area Museum.

This year’s special exhibit was created in conjunction with the Hopkinsville African American History Cell Phone Tour that was recently released by the City of Hopkinsville and the Hopkinsville-Christian County Convention & Visitors Bureau. Narrated by Matt Snorton, the cell phone tour features 18 stops throughout the community that highlight various aspects of our social and cultural heritage.

Visit the Pennyroyal Area Museum to start or end the cell phone tour and see photographs, artifacts, and other interactive displays that offer additional background and historic context for the stops on the cell phone tour. Watch an interview with F.E. Whitney, examine artifacts from Virginia Street Baptist Church, hear the music of the Chitlin Circuit, and more!
