Recycling Program Awarded $80,000 Grant for New Sorter

The Hopkinsville-Christian County Recycling Center would like to inform local residents that public recycling drop-off locations will be temporarily unavailable beginning today through Thursday.  Services will resume on Friday, February 13 at the public drop-off locations at Skyline Drive, the Public Works Department, Holiday Burgers on Lafayette Road, and Indian Hills Shopping Center.

The temporary suspension of services is needed for the installation of new sorter equipment at the Hopkinsville-Christian County Recycling Center located on Mt Zoar-Latham Road.  Pennyrile Solid Waste Management Authority (PSWMA) was awarded $80,000 in grant funds for a Manual Sort System to be used at the Recycling Center.  The new equipment will allow for increased sorting capacity and contribute to the overall efficiency of local recycling efforts.

Grant funding was provided by the Division of Waste Management under the 2014-2015 KY Pride Fund Grant.  Hopkinsville-Christian County Recycling Center, Hopkinsville Solid Waste and the City of Hopkinsville extend a special thanks to the Pennyrile Area Development District for its assistance in the successful grant application and PSWMA administration.
