City Set for Special Presentations Before October 6th Council Meeting

The public is invited to celebrate two exciting events directly before tomorrow’s City Council meeting.  First, at 5:30 p.m. members of the Hopkinsville Human Relations Commission and related committees will join Mayor Carter Hendricks in declaring October 18 through October 24 as Human Relations Week.  Human Relations Week will culminate with the Mayor’s Unity Breakfast on Thursday, October 22 at 7:30 a.m.

Then, at 5:55 p.m. Hopkinsville Community College President Dr. Jay Allen, other college supporters, Mayor Hendricks, and members of City Council will be on hand for the city’s presentation of a $500,000 contribution toward construction of a $15 million Agricultural Allied Health and Career Technology Center at the college.

Mayor Hendricks remarked, “It is extremely exciting to celebrate both the Hopkinsville Human Relations Commission and Hopkinsville Community College.  Both of these institutions embrace a daily mission that honors the importance of our community working together to achieve its many important goals.”

Each brief ceremony will take place in the Council Chamber.  The events will be followed by the regular Council meeting which will begin at 6:00 p.m.
