Quilt Show Set for April 5th-30th
The Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County announces its 27th Annual Quilt Show from April 5 – 30, 2016. This exhibit showcases both old and new quilt masterpieces from area quilters and always proves to be one of the Museum’s most colorful and artistic displays each year. Hands-on activities offer all visitors the opportunity to step up to the quilt frame and add a few stitches to a community quilt project. (Download a Flyer)
For a special treat, join us on Saturday, April 16 from 10:30am-2pm for an old-fashioned Quilting Bee. Members of the Knot Just Quilters, a local quilting group, will be on site to demonstrate their skills and to chat about their art. Children are invited to join us for a special workshop at Challenge House #5 on Wednesday, April 27 from 4pm-5pm where they will learn how to “Sew up a Yo-Yo!” Yo-yos resemble flowers made out of fabric. They are easy and fun to create, and their round shape will make an artistic addition to a hair accessory or pin.
Have a quilt you want to loan for display in the Quilt Show? Quilts will be accepted at the Pennyroyal Area Museum (217 E. 9th Street) from Thursday, March 24 - Thursday, March 31. Call (270) 887-4270 for more information.
