Dave Herndon Selected to Lead Hopkinsville Street Division

Hopkinsville Mayor Carter Hendricks and Public Works Director Mike Perry have announced the selection of long-time planner Dave Herndon to serve as the city’s next Street Superintendent.  Herndon’s first day in the new post will be Monday, July 11.

Mayor Hendricks stated, “Dave has served our community and greater region as an outstanding planner for over a decade.  We are excited to see him in this new role with the Public Works Department and Team Hopkinsville.”

Dave has spent the last fifteen years with Community and Development Services, formerly known as the Planning Commission.  There, he most recently served as Planning Services Coordinator where he supervises the Planning Division which provides services for the City of Hopkinsville and Christian County.  In additional to his traditional planning responsibilities, Dave is highly involved in Hopkinsville flood mitigation efforts and provides day-to-day supervision of the city’s storm sewer system program. 

Dave also brings to the table a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Murray State University and credentials as a Certified Floodplain Manager and American Institute Certified Planner.  He currently serves as President of the Kentucky Stormwater Association and was named the Kentucky Association of Mitigation Managers Floodplain Manager of the Year.
