Lydia Brittan to Perform in Downtown Hopkinsville on October 7th
Brittan will bring a wide style to the stage with her talented band, which includes a complete horn section. The West Virginia native is most often compared to the late Amy Winehouse stylistically. Brittan is working on a new 50s/60s R&B project but will branch out to include a dance band theme for this Fridays@5 event, covering broad variety of artists and styles. In addition to her unique vocals, she has also been recognized as a winner in the International Songwriting Competition.
“Musically, she can just as easily echo Motown soul as well as she can ignite with classic Ella Fitzgerald. Blessed with soaring vocals and a natural instinct for hook, she is redefining what’s possible for the modern music market. Lydia Brittan in the tradition of classic American roots music has somehow become a one-of-a-kind artist,” was a recent Nashville music review of Brittan’s show.
Seating will be available at Founders Square on a first-come basis but attendees are encouraged to bring their own seating.
“The popularity of the Fridays@5 events has led Parks and Recreation to add this final event of the season,” said Parks and Recreation Superintendent, Tab Brockman. “The reviews on Lydia Brittan and her band are incredible and we’re sure music fans of all ages will enjoy her variety. We were unbelievably lucky to get Lydia on our schedule for a special outdoor fall musical evening in downtown Hopkinsville.”
