The program has been funded by the Indian Physicians Alliance for Community Service. Book-A-Bike is starting with eight adult bicycles and six children bicycles. HCCPL Library adult card holders will be able to lease up to two bikes for $5 each. Non-library card holders will also be able to lease up to two bikes for $10 each and their state issued identification card.
“We are excited to offer more ways the rail trail can be used by community members,” stated Tab Brockman, Parks and Recreation Superintendent. “This partnership is an extension effort to increase the services offered to the Hopkinsville community.”
Nancy Jean Brinker, Library Executive Director, praised the local support for the new program. “The Indian Physicians Alliance for Community Service helped with funding for this partnership which allows the library to offer a new and untraditional service for the community and visitors”, commented Brinker.
A community ribbon cutting through the Chamber of Commerce will be held outside HCCPL at the bike rack on Friday, July 21st at 10 a.m. For questions, or to book your bike, please call 270.887.4262 for more information.
