We are celebrating our latest two Drivers of the month – Charles Wells for November and Jennifer Hargrove for December.  Join us in thanking Charles and Jennifer for being fantastic drivers!  

Riders who nominated Charles said he:

  • Is a very conscientious driver that stays alert to all vehicles around him,
  • Has a has a great personality, and
  • Is very polite to all the riders. 

Jennifer’s fans noted how she is:

  • A very nice and friendly driver with an outgoing personality,

  • Always helpful and respectful to elderly and disabled passengers 

Jennifer has lived in Hopkinsville her whole life and has four beautiful children.  She is an outgoing person who enjoys meeting people.  She loves her job at Hopkinsville Transit and says the most rewarding part is being able to help people however possible.


October 2019 Driver of the Month - Buddy Adkins

Join us in celebrating our October 2019 Driver of the Month – Buddy Adkins!  Riders who nominated Buddy noted that he’s: 

  • Friendly, helpful & professional
  • A very polite driver who is helpful to all deviations and to those getting on and off with the lift
  • A very good, focused driver even when the buses are loaded and the passengers are all talking 

Buddy was born in Danville, Virginia and moved to Kentucky when he was 14 years old.  After working 43 years and retiring from the gas company, he became one of the first Hopkinsville Transit drivers when the system was launched in January 2015.  Buddy took some time off from driving for Hopkinsville Transit after inheriting a small farm.  He returned to driving in December 2018.

September 2019 Driver of the Month - Ken O’Hare

Join us in celebrating our September Driver of the Month – Ken O’Hare!  Riders who nominated Ken said they appreciate his sense of humor and consider him a friend.  They also noted that Ken: 

  • Drives like he is driving his own family,
  • Really seems to care about his customers, and
  • Is extra helpful with the elderly passengers and if you have a deviation scheduled. 

Ken and his wife of 33 years moved to Hoptown in 2017 to be closer to their grandchildren.  Their son is an Army vet and they are proud Army parents.  Ken is very involved at his church, Hopkinsville Foursquare Church, where he plays drums on the worship team and serves as director of the local Celebrate Recovery Group.  He and his wife have two grown children and three grandchildren.

With a record number of nominations, Hopkinsville Transit congratulates its latest two-time Driver of the Month – Venessa Lewis!  Riders who nominated her said that:

Venessa is friendly and prompt. Always smiling and very safe!

Venessa is a great addition and representative of the transit system.  Excellent attitude, helpful, and professional.

May 2019 Driver of the Month - Venessa Lewis

Born and raised in Hopkinsville, KY, I have travelled all over the place.  I have two young adult sons and am also raising my 10 year old nephew.  I have worked since 1994 as a bus monitor and subbing in classrooms.  On the side, I sell jewelry and clothes and do catering.  I am friendly and love being around people, like when driving a city bus which I love.


April 2019 Driver of the Month - Filmore Grady

I love Lord Jesus first and foremost and go to church every time the doors are open.  I’m also Mr. Mom and have been raising my son by myself since he was two years old.  I also love to fish and watch football and basketball.  I’m a pretty good guy to be around and also a very hard worker who takes his job seriously.  That’s because it’s not only about  me; it’s about everyone I ride on that bus.

I am a very outgoing person.  I love people and helping others.  I enjoy outdoors, music, shopping at thrift stores, and trying to make a difference in the world – one person at a time.


February 2019 Driver of the Month - Moses Davis
Moses Davis

I am a Kentucky transplant by way of Fort Campbell, where I was a Sergeant in the US Army. I am Vietnam Veteran born in South Carolina where I entered into the army at 19. I married at the age of 21. I lost my first wife to cancer in 2008 after 40 years of marriage. I remarried in 2010 to start my next 40. I have worked and served in church at New Asia Missionary Baptist in Herndon, KY for the past 20 years. I retired from Johnson Controls in Cadiz, KY after 26 years as well as drove a school bus and worked part time at Wal-mart for 5 years each. I was a sharecropper in Trigg County for a period of 12 years. I was truck driver for Agri Chem for about 2 years.

December 2018 Driver of the Month - Charlie Manasco

I was born in Christian County, went to school at Lacy, Crofton, and Christian County High. After going into the service from 1960 to 1966, I worked at Phelps Dodge and Scott Oldsmobile Nissan. In 1978 I moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. I worked for Alva Roofing until 2015 when I moved back here to Hopkinsville, KY. I have two daughters, Lisa and Cindy.


November 2018 Driver of the Month - Moses Davis

Moses is a long time Hopkinsville Transit driver. He originally came to Kentucky through Fort Campbell as a sergeant in the U.S. Army. Now he enjoys spending his free time with his wife as well as working and serving in church at New Asia Missionary Baptist in Herndon, KY.

Rhonda is a single mother of 2 and a proud grandmother of 2 grandsons.  In her spare time, she enjoys reading and spending time watching her son (Bubba Tandy) play football and spending time with her family.

January 2018 Driver of the Month - Toni Majors

Toni Major

Hopkinsville Transit recognizes its first Driver of the Month of the new year – four-time honoree Toni Majors – for her outstanding service to the community!  We’re super excited to join our riders in saying thanks to Toni being an top notch ambassador for Hopkinsville Transit. 

A Christian County native, Toni is the proud mother of two sons and a grandmother of four amazing grandchildren, 3 boys and 1 girl.  Her grandbabies are her pride and joy and when she’s not working she loves spending time with them.  Toni is no stranger to working with the public after spending a combined 41 years as a 911 dispatcher, in auto parts sales and delivery, and as a waitress.  Toni’s goal is to be a positive role model to each citizen that boards her bus.  Her moto: “I will strive to make them feel special, appreciated, and most of all show them kindness.  I believe a smile and a kind word can make a difference in someone’s day.”

And, what a difference she makes!  Congratulations on a continued job well done, Toni!


October 2017 Driver of the Month - Courtney Waller

Hopkinsville Transit recognizes its October Driver of the Month – Courtney Waller – for her outstanding service!  We’re super excited to join our riders in saying thanks to Courtney being an outstanding ambassador for Hopkinsville Transit.  She is 36 years old and an only child who is engaged to be married 2018.  She loves to travel and have fun and see new things.  She’s an all-around kind of gal who’s never met a stranger.  Her motto – I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.  Way to go, Courtney!

A Pembroke native, Wagner’s father was in the military so he was able to travel a lot and see a lot of different people of all races and countries.  He and his beautiful wife have 3 wonderful kids.  He loves to fish, one of his favorite hobbies.

  • She has a great personality; she is kind and patient. She takes the time to get to know all her passengers and memorize their schedules and where they need to go.
  • It was actually hard to choose just one, because my experiences with each driver has been wonderful, but if I had to pick one it would be Ms Rhonda. She goes out of her way to make each of her [passengers] feel special whether it's a simple hello to asking how [you’re] doing.

Hopkinsville Transit recognizes its first Driver of the Month – Kay Parker Jones – for her outstanding service to the community!  Our riders have spoken and we agree Kay is an awesome driver for our system.  Some of those who nominated Kay remarked that:

  • Kay rocks!! She is always happy and gives a smile 2 every person!! She helps the disable[d] and is sweet to kids!!  I've never seen her have a bad day, she's the best!!
  • Kay is very friendly and goes to the extreme to make her passengers feel pleased. She is safe, and not to mention, very cautious when loading and unloading handicap passengers...She tries to answer any questions we have. If she doesn't know the answer, she takes it upon herself to find out for us. She treats her passengers…like family... She greets us with a smile when we board and as we unboard...There is never a dull moment on her bus and I love it!!!!

Kay is a mother of 4 grown boys and has lived in Hopkinsville all of her life.  She loves working with the public and making passengers her first priority.  She enjoys conversations with drivers and passengers on a name to name basis.  Kay is a graduate of Christian County High School and the University of Phoenix with a degree in Business Management.  Kay has been driving with Hopkinsville Transit since February.  Hats off to Ms. Kay for her superior customer service, exceptional safety record, and exemplary attendance!
